Christmas Tag

Today I have a simply Christmas tag.  This is the first thing I wanted to do with the Wreath for All Seasons stamp set.  It turned out to be the second thing I made with this set, I made this card first.  But I love the simplicity of the tag.  And I am totally loving this set (you may have noticed a trend, I say this about every stamp set I use because Papertrey Ink Set are amaz-ing) I'm thinking of mass produce this for my Christmas tags this year, but the year is still early.

Happy Easter

Today I have an Easter card to share. I really like the eggs in this set but man, it is hard to line up the outline after you stamp the inside of the egg but I figure it add to the whimsiness of the card. I really like this set and one of the best things about it is the butterfly. I have wanted to do a butterfly in flight (bend up his wing) for a long time on a card.

Here is a close up the butterfly.

Bubble gum Pink

My youngest son, H has been invited to his first birthday party and it is for a little girl in his day care class and this mama is so excited to make a bubble gum pink birthday card for a little girl. Infact on Saturday I woke up thinking about it and couldn't sleep . So I got up (I'm more of a morning crafter) and the house was quiet and still since all of the boys were asleep and I got a good hour and a half you crafting time in. And in that time I completed one card and a tag. Well, that's not fair, I did the card twice since I did not like how it was turning out so I had to change it up a bit. But this is how it turned out.

And I am really pleased on the results no matter how long it took to make. I know the girl birthday party days are numbered so I have to make the most of them.
Here is the card.

Up close of the details on the card.

Here is the matching tag.

A Happy Birthday Wreath

Ok so I received my latest Papertrey Ink order and in it was the Wreath for All Seasons stamp set.  I couldn't wait to play with it, so it was the first set to get inked up.  Here is the card I made with it. This is also the first card that I have sewed on that looks good enough to share. My previous practice cards were a hot mess and ended up in the trash. Since I was happy with how this turned out I think I will be doing it more.

Here is a close up of the details.

Warmest Wishes

When I was crafting over the weekend I seemed to be on a let's reuse stuff kick. So today I have a card I made using the tags leftover from Christmas.  I saved all of them so I'm sure you are going to see more of those cute little snowmen on future cards. I of course couldn't leave him alone, I had to alter him a bit and ink him up. And I can't tell you how giddy I was when I stamped the design from PTI Big & Bold Holiday Wishes on the Mat stack 5 and it fit perfectly. LOVE IT!

CPS 209

I have decided to dip my card making, inked up fingers into challenges.  The first one I found courage to participate in is the Card Positioning System (CPS) Blog. They have a weekly sketch that you use to make a card and posted to your blog and link to theirs. Here is this week's sketch:

I, of course, put my own spin on the sketch. Not only that but I was in a mood to use this old Halloween stamp set from Close to My Heart. I just think it is too cute and I have had it for years (vintage wood mounted stamps ;). I have found when I'm in the mood to use a certain set I should just do it because if I don't and try and ink up some other set nothing works. My heart is just not in it. So here is the card I ended up with.

Here is an up close look at the details. I love how it looks all curled up on the edges.

Teacher Thank you

I was so happy I was able to fit in some crafting time this weekend. During the week I had some ideas floating around in my head using the PTI Teacher's Apple set. But as I sat down to do them it kind of evolved. It seems it always happens that way. And lately I have been loving white space on my cards.

Make It Monday #5: Distressing Edges

So for the Papertrey Make it Monday Challenge I whipped up a quick Christmas card.  I love how the Close to My Heart cardstock has the white core so when you distress the edges they just pop.  This is two Christmas card in a row for the Make it Monday Challenge, for me it may become the Make it Monday Christmas Challenge.

Here is a close up of the Distressed edges.

Cupcakes all Around

Today I have cupcake birthday card.  Who doesn't love cupcakes? Well, apparently I have made a quite a few because when I showed Mr. Sunny he was like "another cupcake card?".  I guess I need to ink up some other stamp sets.....or purchase a new one, the PTI March release is coming up ;)

Here is a close up of the detail.

Again I decided to make a banner similar to PTI double ended banner die, but this time I would remember to take a picture instead of explain.  A picture is so much better. But of course after i cut this out and laid out my card design I decided the banner need to be a different color.

Vacation Recap

Since we live far away from both of our families, I thought I would use this blog as a way to give them a view into our everyday and not-so-everyday life and see what is going on with the boys. So I've taken the time to recap the vacation we took last month.

When choosing when we should go on vacation this is the first year I had to consult a school calendar since Z is now in kindergarten.  And this is the only year I would consider pulling him out of school to go on vacation.  It just so happened that Z had a 4-day week in February (missing four days is better than five). So I scheduled it and as it turns out we were going to be out of town for the Superbowl, which is no big deal since Mr. Sunny is not into football.  But we were looking forward to the fact that as the DFW area was getting crazy with the Superbowl we were getting out of town, flying out the Saturday before the game.  Then Mother Nature threw us for a loop.  The week leading up to Saturday was really crazy, not just Superbowl crazy, but Superbowl covered with ice with a good helping of snow on top. Yes, there was ice that closed schools/day care for 3 days (yes Z ended up missing a total of 7 days of school), and snow on Friday but that didn't deter us from getting the heck out of dodge. When we touched down in Orlando there was no snow or ice to be seen; Orlando has that Disney Magic, for sure.

We checked into our hotel, unpacked and rested a bit since I insisted on getting up at 3:00 am to give us plenty of time to make it to the airport. (Since it was Superbowl weekend they had snow plows brought in from other states to help so the roads were fine) Then we headed over to Chef Mickey's to see Mickey and the gang and get our napkin twirl on. Celebrate, Celebrate...Celebrate Mickey Mouse....(sorry, reliving the moment). H was a bit afraid of the characters.  But when Pluto came over he was excited to grab Pluto's whiskers.  H sleeps with a Pluto stuffed animal every night and he rubs the tail or ear under his nose to fall asleep.

The next morning we scheduled an early morning breakfast at the Crystal Palace so we could walk down an empty Main Street. Well, quite a few people must have had the same idea too; it wasn't as empty as I thought it would be. Oh and it started raining but it was alright, we came prepare with ponchos. It was like that for the rest of the week, cold and wet, but we made the best of it.

There were a few things the Z really wanted to do.  He wanted to do the Jedi training.  I knew we needed a plan for our day at Hollywood Studio since we wanted to also ride the Toy Story Mania ride and do the Jedi Training, both very popular. The plan was we would get there before opening and split up; Mr. Sunny with H would make the mad dash for Toy Story Mania and get Fastpasses while Z and I would make the mad dash to the Jedi training.  Everything was going to plan, we got there early, (which is quite a feat) we were waiting.... and guess who decides to have a blow out poop 15 minutes before the opening show. Well, Mr. Sunny was able to take care of it all and get fastpass for a decent time. (Have I said how much I love that man, I do)

Mr. Sunny and I wanted to ride Space Mountain this year.  I felt a bit guilty telling Z that it was the little kid Space Mountain and not the big Space Mountain to get him to go on it. (Of course there is no kid little space Mountain)  He did a bit of freaking out in line but I texted him a picture of a space mountain shirt from the gift shop I would get him if he rode it.  Mr. Sunny texted back, jokingly to get a shirt that he was a bit scared too. After all the drama the boys rode and Z said he liked it but when given the opportunity to ride it with me he said "no thank you".

This was also the trip that I rode the Yeti ride (Expedition Everest) I have been afraid but this year if my little guy could be brave and do something new so could I.  Mr. Sunny has ridden it and loves this ride and as he was telling me about it I was getting pumped up.  It also help that it was basically a walk on so I didn't have time to freak out, because I mostly likely would have. (Let's just say the first time I waited in line for Space Mountain I freaked out when we got to the loading area, in my defense I was 4, but as the story goes my dad was not too happy with me after waiting in line for a ridiculous amount of time) But let me say this ride is way fun, I loved it.

Here are some random photos from our week.

You wouldn't know it from this picture but he really liked this ride and is still asking to ride Dumbo.

He really thought he was going to get that sword out. HAHAHA!!!

Party Animal

Oh how I enjoy the PTI countdown leading up to their monthly release.  The PTI design team puts together the most amazing and inspiring cards and projects. There is always one or sometimes a few cards I wanted to copy.  Well, for the January release it was the card Nichole Heady made with the Tiny Treats: Birthday set. From the moment I saw it I want to make one. It is a perfect card to have in my stash since I have two young boys with birthday parties season coming. PERFECT! So as soon as I got this set I went about making the card.

However I didn't purchase the PTI Double Ended Banners die, I wanted too but it didn't fit in the cart this time ;) But I had seen somewhere (not sure if it was a blog or video or where) but I saw you can use a square punch to make a banner.  To do this you put the strip of paper in the corner of the square punch and while holding it upside down so you can line it up and just punch a triangle off the end to create a banner and do the same to the other end.
