Hey Cupcake

Papertrey Ink's Cupcake Collection stamp set is one of my favorites.  Today I have a little pink and brown number so it has a bit of a Valentine's feel. I drag out the sewing machine to do a bit of stitching on this card.  And since it is out I think I will be using it a bit more.

Sorry about the dark pictures with lots of shadows, it was a cloudy Sunday afternoon when I was ready to take pictures.

Here is a close up of the cute little cupcake.

Mistletoe Monday: Felt Christmas ornaments

Happy Monday to you!  Here on Sunny with a Chance of Crafting I like to share Christmas crafts and ideas in a series I do called Mistletoe Mondays. Today for Mistletoe Monday I am sharing some felt ornaments I made last year.  Next Monday I will post a tutorial on how to make these cute little guys.

Who doesn't love a candy cane for the holidays with no calories?

And a little snow covered house with a layer with a red door.

These make great gifts for teacher and friends.  Here is how I packaged up one for a Secret Santa exchange at the office.  Or they make a nice addition to your own tree.

Puddle Jumping

Yesterday I was in the mood to scrapbook.  Since that mood has not happened in a long time I thought I better do it before it goes away.  So I pulled out the Studio Calico Kit Singing in the Rain and printed out the two pictures that I first thought of when I saw this kit. The layout I created was based on this one that Susan Weinroth did using the same kit.

Here is a close up of the journaling details.

Here is a close up the title block.

Here is a close up of the stamping I did to complete the page. I used Versa Mark ink to create the effect.

In Honor of Penguin Awareness Day

When I checked the CASual Friday challenge blog this morning I learned it was Penguin Awareness Day.  Currently they are doing a black and white challenge this week to honor the day. Well all of this striked me funny since last night my littlest, H came home from Pre-school talking about Penguins and making penguin sounds, it's the cutest thing.  I guess they talked about it in class.  So I decided to make a card today in honor of my little penguin man.

Thank you Dahlia

Today I have a thank you card I made using PTI Delightful Dahlia.  When this set first came out I fell in love with it. Although I have made a few cards using this set I find it difficult to use. I have seen this technique on Nichole Heady's blog ( I can't find the post to link back to) and thought I would give it a try.

This technique is super fast and easy. All you do is stick the flower stamp backwards on the block and ink it with color. Then go back and stamped the flower image on top of it of the circles. I am really pleased with how it turned out. I think I want to do this again but with bright colors.  I think you will be seeing a set of these babies soon.

One Layer Wednesday: Baby Shower Tags

Today for One Layer Wednesday I have some tags I made for a baby shower a co-worker of mine is hosting.  Over the weekend I cranked out 70 of these little babies. The shower's theme is classic Winnie the Pooh.  These tags will be attached to these cute little candles. I think it is going to be super cute.

Cards June Issue Submittal

I recently submitted this Father's Day card to the Cards magazine for their June issue but sadly it did not get picked up. But the great news is that I can now share it with you here on Sunny with a Chance. You know it is never to early to get started on cards for upcoming holidays.

The first time I stamped with PTI Half and Half stamp set I saw mustaches. In fact I stamped these on a piece of scratch paper and the next day my oldest saw them and asked me what I was going to do with the mustaches.  So I figured if I wasn't the only one seeing them I should go ahead with the card.

Here is a close up of the banner which I cut out.  The banner is a old stamp Purple Onion stamp that came in a self addressed kit I purchased years ago. The gal  (I can't remember her name) who was putting together the kits quit doing them fourish years ago.

Flower Birthday

Today I have a card I put together with an effort to use what I have.  It's January and I want to reduce the size of the stash, craft stash. I have accumulated lots of paper over the past 10 years of crafting but as many who enjoy this hobby can tell you- no matter how much paper you have there isn't a single piece of paper that is right for this card.....I need to get something different.

I starting by creating the focal point then searched high and low through my paper stash for something that would work. I found something that had the right feel but wasn't the right color.  So I decided to pull out my polka dots out to stamp on top in the right color.  I was thrilled on how it turned out and I'm sure I saved myself a ton of money.

Here you can see the papttern paper I chose with the dots on top.

Mistletoe Monday: Wine Tag

I have decided to add a weekly series here at Sunny with a chance named "Mistletoe Monday's" As I hinted at last week I like to craft for Christmas year long so that I am ready for the holiday season.  So on Mondays I will be sharing Christmas projects from cards, tags to even handmade gifts.  So if you are looking for a little holiday inspiration stop in on Mondays.

To start things off I have a wine tag I made for my neighbors/ co-worker gift. Of course the bottle will not make it till next Christmas. The glittery snowman is actually I store bought (Target) tag.  This actually was one that was used. I love it when you can reuse the pretty tags.  I have a bunch so I'm sure you are going to see Mr. Snowman pop up in other projects.

Here is Mr. Snowman's close up.

CASual Friday: 34 Chip off the Ol' Block

This year I want to try and do more challenges. I'm starting off with the Casual Friday challenge.  This seems right up my alley with the stuff I have been creating lately.

This week's challenge is to do a CAS (Clean and Simple) designed card using a chip board element. I was so excited about this because I was able dig through my extensive stash of chipboard and use something....anything.  And better yet I used TWO!!! Here is the card I came up with.

Here is a close up. You can't really tell but I pop dotted (that is a stamping verb, in the past tense no less..hehe) the talking bubble off the card.

Christmas year round

Last year I made Christmas cards all year round so that I could be ready for the holiday season and the craft fair I did. This is one of the cards I made in December.  You can tell as the time became short the cards became simpler in design but I think I actually like the clean and simple look.  This is the card that was included in the teacher gifts we gave last year which were these cocoa Kits.

Super Hero Boy Birthday

Today I have another birthday card and tag combo. Both my boys had birthday parties on the same weekend in December so I whipped up this combo and the one I posted yesterday for that purpose.

This card was for a little boy H goes to preschool with and was turning three.  It worked out well since I had a few super hero capes left over from the craft fair (you can see it here).  So I came up with a card and tag that would go with the cape.

Here is the card.

When I went to stamp the sentiment under the focal point I decided to throw caution to the wind and try something different. I decided to do a stamp off technique, (in which you ink the stamp and then stamp on a scratch paper then onto the card making the image lighter in color) down the center of the card and stamping the one directly under the focal point straight onto the card.  I am so glad I decided to try it.

It kind of reminds me of the Star Wars opener....maybe it's just me because the boys have been watching the complete Star Wars saga since Daddy opened it Christmas morning....stamp I must.

Here is the tag.

One Layer Wednesday: Big Birthday Wishes

For the New Year I have decided to add a weekly post here on Sunny with a Chance of crafting. After doing the craft fair in December I realized that I need to lower the price on my cards but the only way to do that is to offer only one layer cards. So to prepare for this year's craft fair I will be posting one layer cards on Wednesday, hence One Layer Wednesday's.

So to kick off the series I have a quick and easy Birthday card and tag.  This one has already been used for a birthday party my son went to.

Here is the tag that went along with the card.

Penguin Christmas Thank you

Now that Christmas has come and gone it was time to send out the Thank you cards.  While surfing the Papertrey Ink Forum I came across a link to this adorable thank you card that Joyce made for her daughter's thank you cards. Since Mr. Sunny gave me that sweet little Winter Penguin for Christmas I couldn't wait to create a set of thank you cards for my boy to send out.
