Today’s card is a Thank you card I did over the weekend.  I really wanted the All Book up stamp set when Papertrey Ink first released it in July.  But since I purchased it I have found it difficult to use.  I am so happy to finally created a card using it.

Christmas Chocolate Slider

Today’s share is a chocolate packet slider I made.  I found the instructions for this on Kerry’s paper crafting blog. I think these would make great stocking stuffers or teacher’s gifts along with a mug and maybe a gift card. I made up a bunch of these to have on hand for any last minute gifts and use up my old Christmas paper.

A Christmas Thank You

Today I have a Christmas thank you card to share. Since I have gone digital with my scrapbooking I have found it more cost effective to make my Christmas cards digital.  It is still quite a process but that has more to do with my two boys then anything else. I wrangle the boys and take what feels like a million pictures (really it’s about 200) and hope that there is one good one that I can use to create our Christmas card from. Then in Photoshop I use a digital kit to create a 5x7 and have them printed at Costco. But I do like to send thank you cards to our wonderful and thoughtful family so this year I am making them.   Hopefully I will have the Christmas card photoshoot and will be able to share with you the highlights or out takes I’ll just have to see how it goes.

Baby Girl Bundle of Joy

Today I have the baby girl card I made to even out my baby card stash.  It didn’t turn out quite like I was planning and a bit crooked to boot but it is finished.  I was a bit short on time to finish it or I would have ripped everything off and re did it to make it straight (I still might). Oh well, that is life with boys, everything is full speed ahead.

Baby Boy Bundle of Joy

Today’s card is a baby card I made to replenish my stash.  When my first son was born I made up 4-5 baby boy cards with the left over scraps from the scrapbook pages I made for him at the time.  He is now five and I have finally used up all of those baby cards.  I didn’t think it would take this long but everyone I knew that was having a baby ended up with a girl.  Seriously, boys were few and far between.

Apple for the Teacher

The Best Teacher Card
Supplies
STAMPS: PTI Teacher's Apple
PAPER: Scenic Route, Close to my Heart

Today I’m going to share a card I made for my kids preschool teachers.  For this card I created a stencil for the apple to sponge on the color and I really liked how it turned out. I find that sponging ink can be a very easy technique that looks amazing, almost like airbrushing.

Delightful Dahlia Birthday Trio

Today I’m sharing a trio of birthday cards I created using Dawn McVey’s Delightful Dahlia stamp set. The only out of the box thing I did was on the card on the right I used the Fiskars Treading Water Punch to create the “blinged out” strip by running the strip through twice and lining up the holes.  When making cards I like to stamp up a large piece of paper and make three cards using it with slightly different designs.  This makes building up my stash quick and easy and usually one of the layouts is something I wouldn’t have thought of at first (that would be that whole treading water punch thing).

I really like how these turned out and I almost think they are too pretty to give away.

Hoppy Birthday

In an effort to use some old paper I dug out some Basic Grey I’ve had for quite some time.  I just love that frog.  I need to build up my stash of boy birthday cards since “Birthday season” for my oldest son (who is 5) will be kicking off starting in December and lasting till June with about two birthdays a month. So there will be more to come.

Sending Birthday Wishes

As I have stated I am a paper crafter. I love to stamp, create cards, and scrapbook using paper and doing it digitally.  Well to tell the truth since I started digital scrapbooking a couple of years ago I have only done a handful of paper scrapbook pages.  So to use my massive amount of paper I have accumulated I have been cranking out the cards, especially since finding my favorite stamping company, Papertrey Ink (PTI). In fact, one of the reasons I started this blog is to participate in their monthly blog hop.

So let’s start the sharing. But since I work full time and now due to the time change it is dark when I leave the house in the morning and dark when I come home so due to poor lighting conditions I have dug through my photo archives for some cards.  I do promise to get some pictures of my latest card creations to share.

My Adventures in Sewing

Although I am mostly a paper crafter I have tried my hand at a couple of sewing projects. Since I grew up in a house where my mom made all of my sister’s and I Halloween costumes, Easter dresses, Christmas dresses and lot of other items, I figured I had to follow suit.  The first attempt was a dinosaur costume for my oldest son.  I tried but over the course of that October I ended up sewing that stupid tail on wrong twice and in the end with Halloween looming I had to phone a friend who knew how to sew to help me get it done in time for the Halloween Parade at Pre-school.  Thanks Carrie! After that experience I decided we are the store Halloween costume type.  But two years later I was ready to try it again.  This time the phone calls were to my mom to help me muddle though.  And I did.

So when my friend was expecting a baby and had moved away I decided I could easily sew up some baby bibs as a gift, since I had so much more experience. (2 Halloween costumes consisting of 4 pieces of clothing- definitely filling out the resume) And I was right, those things are super easy.  Why didn’t I start with that kind of sewing project? The only tricky part was I wanted to do a button closure but luckily since my mom was visiting she was able to show me how to do button holes on my sewing machine.  As it turns out it is pretty easy with my machine since it has a special button hole foot.  She likes it so much (hers is a Kenmore that is at least 30 years old and has no such special foot) she is having me bring it to her house over the holidays so she can finish up some of her projects. Since it was so easy and fast, I we even whipped up some burp rags to match.

When it came time to package them up I used Mindy Terasawa’s Howdy Cowboy digital kit to make a cute tag to go along with the cowboy theme.  I really liked how the whole project turned out.

Hello World

Well after giving this much thought I have decided to jump on the blog band wagon. So this is me jumping on.  This blog is going to be somewhat of a running stream of consciousness of sorts. There will be stories about my two little boys, whatever craft I’m doing, whatever home improvement I can convince my husband to do and all the life moments in between.
