Crafting year in Review

Since the 2011 is coming to a close I thought I would put together a review of the top five projects from 2011 that were crafted here on the sunny side of the street.

I have posted the links to all the projects if you want to see and read more about each of them.

Ok now that I am blogging about this project again I think I need to explain something. It looks weird that I am sending her a Hungry girl cookbook and a box full of candy at the same time.  But since my sister cooks for one this was one of a few cookbooks for one out there and this one had the easiest recipes.

Mr. Sunny says that he looks like he is in a clear body bag.

1. And now for the most popular project from 2011......

this Valentine's Day card

I would like to thank you so much for reading along with me this year.  I am going to try in the New Year to blog regularly and not go MIA for months at a time.

Hope you guys have a safe and happy New Year's.

Dashing through the Snow

Okay who doesn't love the In the Meadow stamp set from Papertrey Ink? I love that it has lilne from Christmas songs in the set.  As soon as I got it I wanted to make a quick card. So late one night I  just threw together the scraps that were on my table and came up with this.  This set makes it so easy to put together a beautiful card without too much thought.

Christmas Tags

Today I have some tags I made for the craft fair I did recently. I wanted to made 8-10 of 4 different designs, so to be able to finish all of them quickly I kept the designs simple. I crank out all of my tags in my die cut machine, I happen to have an Epic that was getting quite the workout.  Then I stamped them in an assembly line fashion to speed up the process.

I think my favorite of the bunch is this one.

But the snowman is cute too.

And this one is so classic and elegant.

But this one is so much fun.

Oh who am I kidding, I love them all and I will use the left over one for my gifts this year.

Craft Fair

Today I thought I would share some pictures I took of my booth at the craft fair I did recently.  Let me say this is the first craft fair I have ever done. It is an annual event held at the church I attend after mass on the first Sunday in December. The best part is there isn't a fee for the table.  They just ask each booth to donate an item to be raffled off.

Last year I attended to see what kind of stuff people were selling.  I quickly decided I wanted to try it the following year.  So over the last year I have been making a few things to get ready.  However, it still came down to the wire to finish everything.

Here is a look at my table.

Now let's scan the table, left....

I think over all it was a lot of work and I did make some money.  Some stuff sold better than others. My best sellers were the Magic Reindeer food, the Cocoa Jars with the snowman on it, the Rudolph's Spare noses, and the gingerbread man ornament.  However, my Christmas card didn't move at all.  I think it was due to the way they were displayed.

Super Hero Cape

Today I have the Super hero cape with matching reversible cuffs to share.  I whipped up 9 of these cape sets in a couple of different sizes and color combinations for the craft fair I recently did. I made a couple of prototypes of my pattern for my own boys and I think they love them, since any chance they get they are running around the house in them at full speed and jumping on the couch. Here is H and his beloved Pluto modeling them for me.

I did the photoshoot for this project when it was much warmer. Here is the back.

I wanted to package them up in a way that would make them a great stocking stuffer.  So with a little idea help from Mr. Sunny this is what I came up with.

This is also what I gave as a birthday present in the summer from this post and created a card and tag to go along with the handmade gift.

Ginger bread man

Well, I think it is time to raise this blog from the dead.  Christmas is my favorite crafting season and I have been busy getting ready for a craft fair I did over last weekend so I have lots of Christmas gift ideas to share.  So let’s start with some felt ornaments I made.  Meet Mr. Gingerbread Man.

A coworker of mine bought him to give as a secret Santa gift.  So I packaged him up for gift giving.

Here is a close up of the label.

Here is a close up of the tag.

I really hope Mr. Gingerbread Man will like his new home.
